The Leaf Candy Company produced one of the first "modern" sets of baseball cards in 1948 along with Bowman. By 1950 Leaf stopped making cards. In 1983 Leaf Candy Company acquired Donruss and by the late 1980s started producing cards under the Leaf name, as well as the Donruss name. The Leaf name was resurrected in 2010, when Brian Gray, the founder of Razor Entertainment, bought the rights to the name. The current Leaf Trading Cards have no connection to the gum and card manufacturer of the 1940s and 50s, nor is it related to Donruss, Pinnacle, or Playoff, Inc., all of which produced trading cards under the "Leaf" name.
