Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Laurence Heisler played three seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, primarily appearing out of the bullpen. He also was a member of the Greek team at the 2004 Olympics.

Heisler was undrafted out of college. He signed with the Phillies and made his pro debut with the 1992 Batavia Clippers, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings and going 1-0. In 1993, the right-hander went 1-3 with a 3.26 ERA in 19 games for the Clearwater Phillies. He wrapped up his pro career with the 1994 Spartanburg Phillies, where he was 2-0 with a save and a 4.35 ERA in 21 outings.

After baseball, he worked as a stockbroker before being recruited to play for Greece.

Larry was Greece's worst pitcher in the 2003 European Championship, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) in 3 innings for their highest ERA (3.00) and RA (9.00). He struck out 4 and allowed 3 hits and 2 walks. He still remained with the team for the 2004 Olympics, again posting the squad's highest ERA. He gave up 6 hits in 12 at-bats, including a double and a homer. He also struck out two, walked one and was charged with six runs in two innings for a 27.00 ERA. In the 2005 European Championship, he was 0 for 3 with a walk and a run and went 0-2 with a 11.25 ERA.
