Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Larry Smith played in the Baltimore Orioles system in 1963 and 1964, hitting .264/.310/.367 with 141 hits, 9 home runs and 74 RBI in 162 games. He never advanced beyond Single A. He had been All-State in basketball in high school and won a national title in 1963 with Sam Houston State. He later was a history professor at College of the Mainland and was secretary-treasurer of the Galveston County AFL-CIO.
