Biographical Information[edit]

Larry Pashnick attended Michigan State University in 1976-1978 and signed as an undrafted free agent in 1979 with the Detroit Tigers. By 1982, he was already in the majors, starting 13 games and relieving in 15 others, with a record of 4-4 and an ERA of 4.01 on a team that had an ERA of 3.80 (the lowest ERA in the American League) and in a league whose average ERA was 4.07.

In 1983 he struggled at the major league level, with an ERA of 5.26 in 12 games, and was traded after the season to the Minnesota Twins for Rusty Kuntz. The result was that Pashnick missed the Tigers' great 1984 season, when they won 104 games and the 1984 World Series. Pashnick had a good season with the Twins, however, appearing in 13 games with an ERA of 3.52 and a record of 2-1. The league ERA that year was 3.99.

In the minors part of the year, he was with the Evansville Triplets in 1983 and the Toledo Mud Hens in 1984. Previously with Evansville in 1981, he had led the American Association in ERA.
