Larry Panciera was a college coach. He played both baseball and football in college then served in the Army during World War II. He coached baseball and football at Killingly High School from 1947-1949. He was assistant coach at the University of Connecticut from 1954-1961. He was head coach of 1962-1979, taking his team to the 1965 College World Series, 1972 College World Series and 1979 College World Series. His record at UConn was 297-160-5. He was also assistant football coach at UConn. Surprisingly, he never coached a future major leaguer with the Huskies even though the school had three future big leaguers in his time as assistant coach and had three more in the decade after he left.
