Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Larry LaGarde played in the Atlanta Braves system from 1966 to 1971, beginning his professional career at 17 years old.
He had a hit in 9 at-bats for the GCL Braves his first year, then hit .258/.333/.325 with 16 RBI and 7 stolen bases in 41 games between two clubs in 1967. He was a Pioneer League All-Star in 1968 after hitting .281/.372/.419 with 2 home runs, 36 RBI and 3 stolen bases in 60 games for the Magic Valley Cowboys. He played for the AIL Braves of the Arizona Instructional League that year, as well, then spent a couple of seasons with the Greenwood Braves, stealing 16 bases for the club in 1970. He played 100-plus games for the first and only time in 1971, hitting .230/.305/.310 with 3 home runs, 30 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 114 games for the Savannah Braves.
Overall, LaGarde hit .257/.331/.368 with 18 home runs, 156 RBI and 44 stolen bases in 397 games over 6 seasons.
