Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Larry Greene was Philadelphia's top pick in 2011.

He hit .562 with 19 home runs, only 8 strikeouts to 37 walks and 58 runs as a high school senior. He was a 2011 AFLAC All-American. He was offered a football scholarship to the University of Alabama and a baseball commitment to Chipola Junior College. Baseball America rated the slugger as the 75th prospect in the 2011 amateur draft. They also named him a high school All-American, joining Josh Bell and Austin Cousino in the outfield. The Philadelphia Phillies took him with the 39th pick of the draft, with a pick that was compensation for the loss of Jayson Werth; he was Philly's lone first-rounder as they lost their earlier pick due to their signing of Cliff Lee. The scout was Aaron Jersild. Greene signed for a $1 million bonus.

Greene made his pro debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters in 2012. He hit .301/.416/.419 in his first 26 games, with 17 walks but only one home run.
