Lapwai is the seat of the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. It is located in the southwest portion of the Idaho Panhandle in Nez Perce County, about 125 miles south of Coeur d'Alene and 20 miles east of Lewiston. Levi McCormack was born and is buried here.
