Biographical Information[edit]

The Chicago Cubs drafted Lance Rymel in the 28th round of the 2012 Amateur Draft and he played in their minor league system from 2012-2014. In his last year he reached AAA for two games with the Iowa Cubs. Overall Rymel hit .225/.304/.308 while appearing in 84 games. He worked exclusively at catcher except for pitching one inning in 2012.

After one year away from the game, Rymel returned to the Cubs in 2016 to serve as a rehabilitation coach. Since then he has managed in the lower levels of the Cubs organization which is detailed below.

In addition, Rymel has some offseason coaching/managing experience. He served as the 2018/2019 bullpen coach for the Yaquis de Obregon of the Mexican Pacific League. Following the 2021 season he managed the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League and the Sox to a League title.
