Kyle LaMotta played in the independent leagues in 2009. He went 1 for 10 for the Pensacola Pelicans but hit .297/.392/.545 for the South Louisiana Pipeliners with 17 steals in 21 tries and 9 homers and 36 runs in 47 games. He tied for third in the Continental Baseball League in homers and tied for 9th in steals. He also pitched, but not well, with nine runs in 1 2/3 IP.

Kyle is with the Virgin Islands team for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.
