Biography

Pitcher Kyle Kane was drafted 33rd overall by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 1997 amateur draft. He spent seven years in the White Sox organization, finishing with a record of 9-4 and a 4.81 ERA. Kane had a power fastball and was considered to be a decent relief pitching prospect, but injuries ended his career.

Kane's debut season with the Bristol White Sox did not go well, as he put up a 5.32 ERA in 23.2 innings of relief work. He gave up 34 hits and 8 walks, while striking out 17.

The right-hander pitched well as a starter for Bristol in 1999, posting a 2-0 record and a 2.57 ERA in five starts. He struggled in class-A Burlington, owning a 13.50 ERA in 18.0 innings. Kane also performed poorly as a reliever with Winston-Salem in 2000. He pitched 50.2 innings, but his ERA was 5.86 and his WHIP was 1.74.

2001 was Kane's last full season in professional baseball. He pitched very well for Winston-Salem, and dominated opponents in double-A Birmingham. His ERA with Birmingham was 1.85 in 26 games. He also started a game in triple-A during the 2001 season, surrendering two runs in three innings.

Kane appeared in only 20 games from 2002-2004. He battled injuries and struggled to find his form. His career in the organization ended in 2004, at the age of 28.
