Biographical Information[edit]

Kyle Hurst is the son of Bruce Hurst. He was a redshirt at Dixie State College in 2004. He then spent two years on a mission as a Mormon. In 2007, he returned to baseball and led South Mountain College in home runs as a hitter and saves as a pitcher. He appeared in the 2007 Arizona Summer Collegiate League. Following the 2008 season, Hurst was taken by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 36th round of the 2008 amateur draft. Hurst split his first pro campaign between the AZL Angels (3-0, 1.83, 23 H, 5 BB, 40 K in 34 1/3 IP) and the Orem Owlz (0-2, 13 R, 13 H, 5 BB in 4 2/3 IP).
