Biographical Information[edit]
Kyle Hart had a rough show of it in his brief initial major league stay. In his first appearance, a start for the Boston Red Sox against the Tampa Bay Rays on August 13, 2020, he went just 2 innings, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits (including 2 homers) and 3 walks. A few days later, on August 19th, he surrendered just 2 earned runs in 3 2/3 frames against the Philadelphia Phillies, but walked 4 batters. On August 25th, in a start against the Toronto Blue Jays, he survived just 3 1/3 innings, allowing 6 runs (all earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks allowed. His final appearance came in relief on September 1st. In 2 innings against the Atlanta Braves, he allowed 6 runs (all earned) on 7 hits, including 2 homers. In 11 total innings, he allowed 24 hits and 10 walks for a 3.091 WHIP. His ERA was 15.55.
He later went to the Korea Baseball Organization, where he found greater success. With the NC Dinos in 2024, he went 13-3 with a 2.69 ERA in 26 starts, striking out 182 in 157 innings. He won the Choi Dong-won Award, given to the top starting pitcher in the circuit, which in turn led to interest from major league teams in giving him a second chance. On February 13, 2025, he signed a one-year contract with the San Diego Padres, with an option for a second year. He earned his first major league win five years after his debut, in his first start for the Padres on March 31st. He gave up 2 runs in 5 innings in defeating the Cleveland Guardians, 7-2.
