Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Kyle Gaedele is the great-nephew of Eddie Gaedel.

Gaedele was honorable mention All-State as a high school senior and also played basketball. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 32nd round of the 2008 amateur draft but instead attender Valparaiso University. A starter for Valparaiso as a freshman, he then hit .373 as a sophomore in 2010, fifth-best in the Horizon League. He led the league in hits (88) and total bases (144), was second in RBI (63), third in runs (63), and fourth in slugging (.610), and stole 17 bases without being caught.

Gaedele was selected by the San Diego Padres in the sixth round of the 2011 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Eugene Emeralds.

After his playing xareer, Gaedele was a private hitting coach then was hitting coach of the Gateway Grizzlies in 2023 [1] and played in 37 games for the team that year, and another 9 the following year.
