Biographical Information[edit]

Kuo-Liang Chen played in the Taiwan Major League.

Chen represented Taiwan in the 1987 World Junior Championships. The Taipei Gida signed Chen when the Taiwan Major League was founded in 1997. Chen blasted the first homer by local player in the TML on March 9, and hit .224/.286/.306 in 62 games in his rookie year. Chen hit .250/.315/.284 in 1998, and had a huge improvement the next year. The Hualien native was selected into the All-Star Game for the first time in his career in 1999, and recorded a career-best .329/.392/.405 batting line. He didn't extended his performance in 2000 and 2001, as he only batted .236/.308/.253 and .257/.333/.407 respectively. 2002 was the last season for the veteran outfielder, as he hit .302/.357/.377 and won his only Best Ten award as an outfielder. When the two leagues merged, unlike most of his teammates, Chen decided to retire and left the league.

Overall, Chen had hit .269/.334/.334 in six seasons in the TML.
