Kitty Hawk is located in the Outer Banks region of northeastern North Carolina, on one of a string of thin islands off the coast of the continent. It is best known as the place where the Wright Brothers successfully flew the first heavier than air motorized airplane in 1903, and is now mainly a tourist destination.
