Biographical Information[edit]

Kevin Martir played collage ball at the University of Maryland, College Park from 2013-2015. During his last two seasons he served as the starting catcher for the Terrapins. The Houston Astros drafted Martir in the 18th round of the 2015 amateur draft and he played in their minor league system for two years. After his release by the Astros during spring training in 2017, he joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization but did not play in any games. In June 2018 he briefly played for the Gateway Grizzlies of the independent Frontier League. Following his Grizzlies departure, Martir signed with the Philadelphia Phillies organization and worked as a player/coach for the Williamsport Crosscutters for the remainder of the season.

In 2019 Martir moved into coaching full-time as the development coach for the GCL Phillies East. This season ended his association with the Phillies and the New York Yankees hired him as a hitting coach for the Pulaski Yankees in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Martir remained with the Yankees organization as the hitting coach for the Tampa Tarpons in 2021-2022, Hudson Valley Renegades in 2023, and Somerset Patriots in 2024.
