Ken Kume has played in Japan's industrial leagues. He was 1 for 5 for the Japanese national team in the 2007 Baseball World Cup as a backup middle infielder for the Bronze Medalists. His one hit helped Japan stave off an upset by the Spanish national team; with a 3-3 tie in the 9th, he singled off Fernando Gutierrez and came home on a Kei Nomoto hit to win the game.
