Biographical Information[edit]

Kelvin Silvania played in the minors and for the Aruban national team.

Silvania was signed by Minnesota Twins scout Lester Victoria in September 2008. [1] He hit .283/.371/.483 for the 2009 DSL Twins, fielding .957 as one of many first base options they used. Coming stateside, he batted .273/.308/.404 for the GCL Twins in 2010. He fielded .972 at 1B, backing up Kennys Vargas. With Aruba in the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament, he was 1 for 9 and made two errors in 17 chances. [2]

Returning to the GCL Twins in '11, he hit .276/.340/.348 and fielded .976. He had batted .276/.336/.411 in 71 games as a pro, with 29 runs, 33 RBI and five homers in 273 plate appearances. He played for Curacao in the 2015 World Port Tournament. He was 3 for 3 with a run and two RBI in a loss to the Dutch national team and drove in half of Curacao's runs in a 4-0 win over Taiwan. The left fielder-first baseman hit .450/.500/.500 with six RBI in seven games, leading Curacao's offense. For the event, he was 4th in average (between Teppei Ueda and Osvaldo Vázquez), tied Dudley Leonora for 6th in OBP, tied Ueda and Yordanis Samón for 7th in hits (9), tied Yasiel Santoya for 8th in RBI and was 5th with 39 putouts (between Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Quintin de Cuba. Kelvin was back with Curacao for the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week, again rapping three hits in a loss to the Netherlands. He hit a two-run homer off Chih-Lung Yang in a 5-4 loss to Taiwan in the 4th/5th place game. [4]
