Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Katsuyuki Aihara played briefly for the Chiba Lotte Marines in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

He was a 6th-round draft pick in 2005 NPB draft. He made a single relief appearance in 2006, allowing two runs in two innings pitched. During the winter of 2006-2007, he pitched for the Honolulu Sharks of the Hawaii Winter Baseball League and had a 8.31 ERA in 12 games. Throwing both overhand and submarine in 2006, he switched to being only a submarine pitcher in 2007. In 2008, he made four relief showings and had a 5.40 mark. In 2010, he allowed three runs in 2 1/3 frames for a 11.57 ERA, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, he pitched seven Nippon Pro games and had a 7.71 ERA and no decisions; he allowed 7 hits in 9 1/3 IP but 5 walks, 2 hit batsmen and 2 wild pitches to help lead to 8 runs. He struck out five.
