Kana Sakamoto pitched for Japan in the 2008 Women's Baseball World Cup, when they won their first Gold Medal. She beat Silver Medalist Canada in round one. Starting a crucial game against their rival USA, she allowed nine hits and four runs in three innings in a no-decision (Japan won 9-5).

Sakamoto returned with Japan in the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup.
