Biographical Information[edit]

Junior Zamora played in the minor leagues from 1995-2005 in the New York Mets, Anaheim Angels, and Houston Astros organizations. Zamora primarily played third base, though he filled in at other infield positions as needed. He played at the AA level for several years with a brief appearance at AAA in 2001. During his eleven seasons in the minors, Zamora hit .253/.305/.404 while appearing in 670 games. He finished his playing career with the 2007 New Haven County Cutters of the independent Canadian-American Association.

After the conclusion of his playing career, Zamora joined the Boston Red Sox organization as a coach in the lower levels of their player development system.

He was scheduled to return to the Gulf Coast League team in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season.

In addition to his work with the Red Sox, Zamora spent several years coaching winter ball in his native Dominican Republic with the Estrellas Orientales.

Zamora switched teams in 2022/2023 and started the season as an assistant hitting coach with the Leones del Escogido. He took over as hitting coach on November 14th when his predecessor was fired along with the team's manager.
