Junior Gelbal
Biographical Information[edit]
Junior Gelbal was an outfielder for the Dominican national team. In the 1981 Intercontinental Cup, he had the most doubles (5) and joined Luis Casanova and Roberto Dominguez in the All-Star outfield. His team won the Bronze Medal. He remained with the Dominicans for the 1982 Amateur World Series and the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games (when they upset the vaunted Cuban national team to take Gold). In the 1984 Amateur World Series, he batted .222/.263/.333 as a catcher-outfielder. He also played for the Dominican Republic in the 1984 Olympics.
