Biographical Information[edit]
Jhunior Cordero was a Venezuelan who moved to Ecuador and became active with the Ecuadorian national team, starting in 2011. He took the loss in the finale of the 2012 South American Championship as Ecuador got the Silver, foiling their bid for their first Gold in 46 years. In the 2013 Bolivarian Games, he was a star two-way threat as Ecuador won the Bronze Medal. He was 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA, getting half his team's victories; as the starter at 1B, he hit .296/.321/.333 with 3 runs and 3 RBI. In the Bronze Medal game, he came up huge, relieving an injured Alfredo Venegasin the 3rd with a scoreless tie against Guatemala. He traded goose eggs with Gustavo Rehwoldt until allowing one run in the 6th when Juan Valdez drove in Manuel Hernández; Ecuador rallied to score two in the 7th and Cordero made it hold up.
