Biographical Information[edit]

Jungo Igaue spent 11 seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball. He played for the Osaka Tigers (1936–1939), Hanshin (1940) and the Daiei Stars (1949–1954). Note the near-decade layoff in the 1940s.

Though not a high-offense player, the infielder occasionally showed decent speed and power. He stole 11 bases and hit 12 triples in 1937, swiped 13 bags in 1940 and stole 11 bases in 1950. He hit 10 home runs in 1949 and 11 in 1950. In addition, he rarely struck out, finishing with 302 walks and 224 whiffs for his career. In 1937, he had 59 walks and 29 strikeouts; in 1938, he had 41 BBs and 21 Ks and in 1940, he had 53 walks and 16 strikeouts.

Overall, Igaue hit .253/.329/.359 with 691 hits, 33 home runs and 54 stolen bases in 733 games.
