Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Julio Ramos spent eight years in the minor leagues, playing from 1948 to 1952 and from 1954 to 1956. He spent most of his career in the Longhorn League. In 1949, he was 22-4 with a 2.21 ERA in 32 games for the Big Spring Broncs to lead the league in wins, strikeouts (262) and win percentage. The K and win percentage marks are the all-time league records. In 1951, he went 15-8, 4.63 for the Sherman-Denison Twins. In 1954, he was 18-11, 4.05 for the Wichita Falls/Sweetwater Spudders and Midland Indians with a league-high 222 whiffs. Overall, he won at least 88 games.
