Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Rios appeared in 87 games for the Kansas City Royals, in their inaugural year in Kansas City in 1969. Rios backed up second base and shortstop and also played a little at third base.
Signed as a free agent by the New York Mets in 1965, he played in their minor league organization through 1968. The Montreal Expos drafted him away from the Mets in the 1968 Rule V Draft, then the Royals bought him from the Expos at the end of March. He was in the majors all of 1969.
He then played in the minors from 1970 to 1974 in the organizations of several major league teams.
His nickname was "Chito".
