Quotes on the Rincon Steroid Suspension[edit]
"If Juan Rincon comes back and pitches 11 days from now, are the effects of steroids going to deteriorate to where his talent is back to his God-given level? No. He'll have the benefit of whatever steroids he took. I guarantee you, in 10 days, Juan Rincon does not become a mere mortal. I think he'll still be throwing the ball pretty good with the enhanced chemicals."
-- Angels manager Mike Scioscia
"No way. You're kidding me? I know him so well. He's not a guy who could inject that. ... I just know that Juan would be afraid to do anything like [take steroids] I think they need to tell people what the suspension is for, because people see a name on the screen and think he must be doing the same things as Canseco, when he really took some ephedra instead of andro."
-- Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, Rincon's former Twins teammate
