Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Dominguez was signed out of the Dominican Republic by scout Rodolfo Rosario for the Texas Rangers in December 1999. He made his pro debut with the DSL Rangers the next summer.
After pitching three seasons in the majors, his career was ended by an elbow injury. He tried unsuccessfully to make a comeback with the Saraperos de Saltillo in the Mexican League, but lasted just one game. He was also deeply affected by the death of his mother around that time. He returned home and fell victim to various addictions and in 2016, a journalist from Listín Diario, the D.R.'s biggest paper, founding living in abject poverty in Esperanza, Valverde. At the time, he told the journalist that he wanted to enter a rehabilitation facility and eventually return to the game as a pitching coach, but did not have enough money to afford it.
