Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Abreu was signed by the Kansas City Royals and scout Pedro Silverio in 2003. After the 2009 season, he was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves. Abreu was one of four young players acquired by the Houston Astros from the Braves in return for Michael Bourn at the trading deadline in 2011. After spending some time with the AAA Oklahoma City 89ers, he was called up to Houston in late August and made his major league debut on August 29th, pitching two-thirds of an inning in relief against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 7 games, which proved to be the entirety of his big league career, he pitched to a 2.70 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
