Biographical Information[edit]
The brother of pitcher Ravelo Manzanillo and the uncle of Jerry Gil, Josias Manzanillo pitched the 100th no-hitter in the history of the AA Eastern League on July 12, 1989. On June 30, 1994, pitching for the New York Mets, he picked up a save on the same day as his brother Ravelo recorded his only career save for the Pittsburgh Pirates. That made them the first pair of brothers to record a save on the same day.
The Mitchell Report included a statement from Kirk Radomski that he saw Manzanillo being injected with steroids in 1994. A lawyer for Manzanillo said that Josias admitted to buying steroids but never used them.
