Biographical Information[edit]
Joshua Wentzel was the starting second baseman for South Africa in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, going 3-for-15 with two times hit-by-pitch and one walk, fielding .867. [1] He was 2-for-14 with a RBI and fielded .789 in the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, tying for second with four errors. [2] Making it to the senior national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he was now a starting outfielder. He struck out against Ronald Medrano of Nicaragua his first time up but later had a single as part of the rally that netted their lone run. For the event, he was 2-for-9; only Victor Ngoepe had more hits for South Africa. [3]
