Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Josh Kranawetter played in the minor and independent leagues from 2002 to 2006. He was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 27th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He had two excellent seasons and three poor seasons. His pitching lines, respectively, were as follows: 4-3, 2.42; 3-5, 5.95; 10-5, 1.78; 1-4, 6.21; 2-0, 5.46. Overall, he went 20-17, 3.62 in 129 games (11 starts).

On August 18, 2003, he was at the center of one of the biggest brawls of the year. In the 15th inning, he hit batter Evel Bastida-Martinez. Bastida charged the mound and hit Kranawetter in the back with his bat. Bastida was suspended indefinitely and later charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to 200 hours and community service and anger management counseling.
