Biographical Information[edit]

Second baseman Joseph Gunn played in the Canadian-American League from 1936 to 1939.

He began his career in 1936, hitting .305 with 78 hits in 70 games for the Perth Blue Cats/Royals; he fielded .948 as an outfielder that year. In 1937, he hit .274/?/.405 with six home runs, eight triples - both career highs - and 113 hits in 106 games for the Perth-Cornwall Bisons. Now at second base, he fielded .954 there. He tied for 9th in the Canadian-American League in triples. He hit .285/?/.370 with three home runs and 125 hits in 121 games for the Cornwall Bisons in 1938. He improved his fielding percentage at second to .978, leading second basemen in the Can-Am League. With the Cornwall Maple Leafs in 1939, he hit .271/?/.341 with 123 hits in 119 games, fielding .950 at 2B. He later served in the Navy in World War II and worked for IBM for 37 years.

Overall, Gunn hit .281 with 439 hits, 71 doubles, 19 triples and 10 home runs in 416 games.
