Jose Torres spent two seasons in the minors. Listed as Jose Perez with the 1972 Kingsport Royals, he was 19 for 70 with 3 doubles, 2 homers and 7 walks; he fielded just .714 at third base with 8 errors in 18 games. Returning in 1976 with the Pulaski Phillies, he hit .354/.393/.457 and did not make an error in the outfield. Had he qualified, he would have been third in the Appalachian League in average.
