Biographical Information[edit]
José Santiago's most memorable moment in baseball came during the first game of the 1967 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, when he hit a home run off Cardinals ace pitcher Bob Gibson. He had been signed by A's scout Félix Delgado. He was an announcer for the San Juan Senators, Santurce Crabbers and Carolina Giants in the Puerto Rican League, serving over 15 years in those roles. His son, Arnold Santiago, played in the minor and independent leagues from 1994 to 2000. His SABR Bio says he managed the Puerto Rican national team but does not indicate in which events.
