Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jose Morales was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 3rd round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Hector Otero and made his pro debut that summer.
Morales made his big league debut as a starter against the Chicago White Sox on September 8, 2007. He went 3 for 3 in his first three plate appearances before severely spraining his ankle in the 5th inning of the game. He did not play again for the remainder of the season.
At the end of the 2008 season, Morales was one of two players in big league history with a career batting average of 1.000 in three at bats (John Paciorek was the other). That went by the wayside after he received some significant playing time with the Twins in 2009.
He is not to be confused with the first Jose Morales. They both did some catching and pinch-hitting, and they both ended up with career major league batting averages close to .290.
