Biographical Information

After his playing days, Jose Martinez managed the GCL Royals Gold in 1979 and was a Kansas City Royals coach from 1980 to 1987, including for the World Series winning team in 1985. He later was a member of the Chicago Cubs staff from 1988 to 1994.

He was employed by the Atlanta Braves organization from 1995 until his passing in 2014. He also was a successful manager in the Liga Colombiana de Béisbol Profesional, winning three league titles in the early 1980s.
