José Manuel Pedroso Monagas
José Pedroso was an effective pitcher in Cuba. In 13 seasons, he went 101-88 and completed 108 of 214 starts. His ERA was 3.26 and he had exactly 1,000 career strikeouts. Pitching for La Habana, Pedroso led the 1977-1978 Serie Nacional with 10 complete games and 13 hit batsmen and tied two other hurlers for the most wins (9). In 1979-1980, he allowed the most hits (120) and hit the most batsmen (12). The next season, he again led with 12 batters plunked. On May 18, 1982, he threw a no-hitter against the Camagüeyanos. In 1982-1983, Pedroso tied for the lead with 10 hit batters. His son Yadier Pedroso emerged as a star in the early 21st Century.
