Biographical Information[edit]
José Ayala pitched for the Puerto Rican national team had a 6.77 ERA in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, tying for the team lead with three pitching appearances. In the 2015 Pan American Games, he pitched three hitless, walkless, scoreless innings out of the bullpen to beat Cristián Mendoza and Colombia, 8-7. He also saved Benny Cepeda's 5-3 win over Nicaragua. He did not allow a hit, walk or run in his four innings in the Games.
Ayala was very short-use in the 2015 Premier 12, working 2/3 of an inning over three games (1 H, 1 BB, 1 R). He had a brief pro career, going 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA in 11 games for Tiburones de Aguadilla in 2016-2017.
