Biographical Information[edit]
Jorge Tirado caught for the first Puerto Rican national team, in the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games. [1] From 1941-1942 to 1944-1945, he caught every inning for the Leones de Ponce. [2] It earned him the nickname "Caballo De Hierro", the Iron Horse. [3] He played in the Mexican League in 1945, batting .239/~.323/.377 for the Mexico City Red Devils. [4] He played for Ponce when they beat the 1947 Yankees. [5] He won five titles with Ponce and was later inducted into the Puerto Rican Baseball Hall of Fame. [6]
