Jonquière, QC

From BR Bullpen

Jonquière is located in the Saguenay region of Quebec, on a stream that connects Lac Kénogami with the Saguenay River east of Lac-Saint-Jean; it is a center of the aluminum industry. In 2002, it was aggregated with a number of nearby towns, principally the regional center of Chicoutimi, QC, to form the new municipality of Saguenay, QC. Jonquière once was the home of a ballpark built in the late 1930s using the same blueprints at the Stade Municipal de Trois-Rivières and the Stade Municipal de Québec, but contrary to these two other ballparks, which have been renovated and are still in use today as some of the oldest professional ballparks in North America, it was eventually demolished.
