Biographical Information[edit]

Jonathan Fernández is the son of Tony Fernández. He was picked by his father's old team, the Toronto Blue Jays, in the 34th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He split time between the GCL Blue Jays (.192/.371/.269 in 11 G) and the Auburn Doubledays (.217/.375/.232 in 26 G), with 24 walks in 37 games. He fielded .933 while playing primarily second base. In 2010, he was with Auburn, where he hit .189 in 25 games. His final professional season was in the independent leagues in 2011, when he split his season between two teams of the North American League, the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and the Edinburg Roadrunners. It was his best year, as he hit .264 in 62 games.
