Biographical Information

Jonathan Johnson was 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA for Team USA in the 1994 Baseball World Cup. he was picked 7th overall by the Texas Rangers in the 1995 amateur draft and pitched in parts of 6 seasons in the majors, beginning with a one-game stint with the Rangers in 1998, and later moving to the San Diego Padres in 2002 and finishing with the Houston Astros in 2003. He pitched his most major league innings in 2000, going 29 innings in 15 games for the Rangers with a record of 1-1, 6.21. He got in 16 games in his lone season for the Padres, and was 1-2, 4.11, his lowest ERA. His other appearances in the Show were very brief.

He was signed by the Richmond Braves in 2006, coming back after a two-year absence from the game, and spent two seasons with the team, pitching 23 games in 2006 and retiring after going 1-4, 6.45 in 10 games in 2007.

A committed christian, Johnson became a minister in South Carolina after retiring from baseball. He had been active in Christian charities for years, usually with close friend R.A. Dickey. He is principally involved in the non-profit organization "Honoring The Father" which specializes in church construction and sports ministry throughout Latin America.

Johnson coached at Dutch Fork High School and Ben Lippen School. He then became the first coach for Columbia International University baseball in 2020.
