Biographical Information

Pitcher Jon Ward was selected by the New York Mets in the supplemental first round of the 1992 amateur draft but did not sign. After attending Cal State Fullerton, he was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the eighth round of the 1995 amateur draft and went on to play two years in their chain, both with the New Jersey Cardinals. In 1995, he was 0-7 with an 8.07 ERA in 9 games for the club, and he put up only slightly better numbers the next year, going 1-6 with a 5.80 ERA in 9 starts.
