Johnny Wholestaff

Johnny Wholestaff is the name traditionally given to the starting pitcher of a bullpen game. It derives from the fact that the nominal starting pitcher is unlikely to pitch more than a couple of innings, and that everyone on the pitching staff will be expected to lend a hand to complete the regulation nine innings.
