Biographical Information

Johnny Peacock was a catcher for nine years in the majors. Although he hit only one major league home run, he had 16 triples. He never had more than 300 at-bats in a single season, typically getting 100-300.

He married the former Julia Bates Brown of Tarboro, NC and had two children; Julia Bates Peacock Toone and John "Jack" Gaston Peacock, Jr. He also had 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Peacock Bossert, John Gaston Peacock III, Julia Peacock Woodard, Julia Bates Toone and Edward Love Toone.

Peacock started in the minors in 1933. After his major league days, he was a player-manager for New Orleans in 1946.
