Biographical Information[edit]
Johnny Armstrong played for the Dubuque Climbers (1922-1923), Dubuque Dubs (1924, 1927-1928), Dubuque Ironmen (1925) and Oklahoma City Indians (1926). He hit .358 in 1922, .314 in 1923, .301 in 1925 and .341 in 1928. He was manager in 1924, 1925, 1928 and in 1959, when he skippered the Dubuque Packers.
He played in the National Football League for the Rock Island Independents from 1923 to 1926, serving as their head coach for two years.
