Biographical information

John "Johnnie" Baggan was a minor league baseball outfielder and manager.

His playing career spanned 14 seasons, from 1910 to 1924 (he did not play in 1911). He led the 1913 and 1914 Ohio State League in runs and led the league in hits in 1914 as well. He hit over .300 four times in a season, and he finished with a .280 career average in 1,673 games. In 6,369 at-bats, he had 1,782 hits - 278 of which were doubles, 88 were triples and 26 were home runs.

In 1924, at the age of 36, Baggan was one of either two or three managers for the Marshall Indians. The Baseball Reference Bullpen says that he and Bugs Young managed the Indians, while Baseball Reference Minors claims that Pete Daniels managed for them as well.

In 1925, Baggan was the manager for the Indians to start the season, eventually being replaced by Cecil Coombs.
