Biographical Information[edit]
John Thomas was a catcher in Birkenhead starting from age 11. He was on the British national team for an exhibition against the Netherlands in 1965. He helped the Liverpool Tigers to national titles in 1962 and 1975. At age 55, he was a backup on the Cryodon Blue Jays when they won the British championship. He kept playing in old-timer games until 2008, 68 years after his career had begun; he stole a base at age 79 in his final season. He was also a successful manager in South London. In 2016, he was inducted into the British Baseball Hall of Fame.
